Biography

My Compositional Journey

An 8th-grader interested in music composition sat down one day and wrote down a simple melody that he could not get out of his head. In the coming weeks, that melody served as the basis for a full symphonic band piece. Though it was novice work, a full composition for someone of that age is an accomplishment. Over the next two years, it was reworked, edited, and eventually performed. That would be the first piece of a compositional journey that is still growing and will hopefully continue to grow as time marches on.

I Graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL where I studied Music Ministry and Music Composition. I have studied under Professor Zachary Kohlmeier and Dr. Josh Ring. Composition is beautiful because I get to share the joy that music inspires. God has blessed me with a gift I cannot help but share with others.

Personal Life

I grew up and still live in the great state of Michigan. Throughout my life, my two biggest hobbies have been sports and music. I played soccer in early elementary school, played baseball through high school, and bowled on my high school team for four years. I enjoy watching sports, baseball and football in particular, and am a lifelong Detroit sports fan. At the age of five, I began taking piano lessons which sparked my interest in music. Though they did not last past elementary school, I picked up the trombone in 6th-grade and still play to this day. Additionally, I sing, I play euphonium and trumpet, and have re-kindled my love for the piano. Some of my other hobbies include nature walks, rock climbing, cooking, and spending quality time with friends and family. I currently serve as the Worship Arts Pastor at Owosso First Church of the Nazarene.

Musical Accolades

In the Spring of 2024, I was selected to perform at Olivet Nazarene University’s Annual Commencement Concert as a student soloist. The Performance can be watched here. In 2024, I was blessed to receive the B & K Kelley Composition Scholarship. Additionally, I auditioned for and won the Hopkins Family Music Scholarship.
